Whatsapp is one of the top mobile messaging apps, so many of the people you know are likely to have this on their smart phones already.
As of September 2012, you will need to pay a one-time US$0.99 to download the Whatsapp program into your mobile phone. Thereafter, you can message anyone else on the Whatsapp network (regardless of smart phone type) without having to pay for SMS/MMS because Whatsapp uses Wifi or your data network, to connect you with your friends and family.
Here is a tip from Jack Neo, our famous film-maker. He keeps in touch with his family, throughout the day, in spite of his busy schedule, through a group chat with his wife and children. He sends his family texts like “How are you?” every now and then; takes photos or videos of what he sees on the go; and shares quirky quips, he’s only just heard, with them, real time. His family responds likewise and this helps maintain family conversation current despite physical distances, and brings them closer to each other.
Texting is an increasingly popular way to communicate. If you are out of the country, you just need to tap on the local Wifi and you can message your love ones through Whatsapp without having to pay any extra overseas charges.
Try it and let us know how it works out for you and your family!
