For some peace and tranquillity, visit the Sengkang Riverside Park, located at Anchorvale Street, alongside Sungei Punggol.
A rather large heartland park consisting of three open-land parcels, Sengkang Riverside Park is no walk in the park!
Unlike most parks found in older estates, this one is home to a unique water feature – a constructed wetlands that collects and filters rainwater naturally through its water plants. The park also doubles as a wildlife habitat attracting many mangrove birds such as the purple heron, collared kingfisher and little tern.
An interesting feature of this riverside green space is its focus on edible fruit trees. In the aptly named Mango Hilltop, Citrus Grove, and Pineapple Valley, you can find common fruits like star fruit, chiku, pineapple and dragon fruits.
Besides cycling and jogging tracks, playgrounds and abundant open areas for children to fly kites, the best part about this park is that it is very airy and quiet – a treasured escape from the hustle bustle of crowded city life.
To get there by public transport, head to Sengkang MRT first before transferring to and alighting at Kupang LRT stop. If you drive, check out the Map of Sengkang Riverside Park. Parking is free.
