Instead of fretting over which of the many new shopping malls in the West to patronize, Dads can bring their kiddos to the Jurong West Aquatic Centre for a day of ‘good-value-for-money’ fun and splash!
Opened to the public in 2009, the facility has modern special features not found in older public pools:-
- A winding (0.8m depth) ‘Lazy River’ with strong ‘underwater currents’ that flows around the perimeter of a large centre-piece water park. Rent a ring float for 2 hours at a nominal $2 ($5 upfront payment with $3 returnable deposit) and drift happily along!
- 3 different Fun Slides cater to children of different age groups (1.2m minimum height requirement). The rather long blue enclosed ‘tunnel tube slide’ towers impressively from a starting point 3-storey high.
- Kiddy Fun Station – equipped with a gigantic toppling pail and numerous water sprouts, sprinkler and jets – appeals to all children.
- Immerse in the bubbly Jacuzzi for a relaxing water massage!
Children can also learn swimming at the teaching pool, whilst adults swim laps – rain or shine – under a sheltered 50m pool.
For the sedentary who prefer to sit dry, they can repose under the sheltered spectator stand or take cover from the sun under cosy orange umbrellas and read or people-watch from the comfort of complementary-brown rattan outdoor chairs, which add a pleasing touch to the pool surroundings.
