Delicious Veggie Fruit Drinks and Snacks for Dads and Kids 2!

All you need to do after making your veggies and fruit purchases is to clean, skin, cut, juice, ice and DRINK!

 

Here are 3 starter ‘combis’ for you to try:

 

Apple-Beet Delight
1 green Apple (with skin)
1 small Beetroot
1 stick Celery
1/5 Cucumber (with skin)
1/5 Pineapple
1/4 Lemon

 

Apple-Tomato Tower
1 green Apple (with skin)
2 Tomatoes (with skin)
1 stick of Celery
1/4 Cucumber (with skin)
2 Carrots

 

Apple-Lemon Crush
3 Green Apples (with skin)
1/2 Lemon

 

And here’s a recipe for an uber healthy homemade family snack! Enlist your kids to help with the mixing and they will enjoy the munch all the more!

Easy Wholegrain Bar
granolaonlyIngredients

  • 200 gms whole grain oats
  • 50 gms sunflower seeds and pine nuts (or any other combination you might prefer)
  • 100 gms dried raisins, cranberries (or dried coconut flakes)
  • 100 gms coarsely chopped almonds and walnuts (use your favourite nut mix)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 100 gms butter
  • 150 gms honey
  • 1 tbsp flax or olive oil
  • 50 gms sugar (brown or palm sugar are healthier alternatives)

 

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. Mix and lightly toast oats, seeds, raisins and nuts (for around 5 – 7 minutes in medium oven).
  3. Place toasted oat mixture in a mixing bowl.
  4. In a saucepan, combine salt, butter, honey, oil and brown sugar and bring it to boil. Pour over oat mixture and mix till ingredients are evenly coated.
  5. Line a baking tray with grease proof paper.
  6. Press oat mixture down on the baking tray using a large spoon. Bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool. Cut into squares or rectangles as desired.
